In the Kichwa culture, there is a tradition of healing by touch (massage), which in their language is called kakuna. It is practiced by those who have acquired this ability (“paju”) by gift. This is also the case of Meli, an Amazonian Kichwa woman who learned from her grandfathers and grandmothers and who can come to our center and help you from pain or negative energies upon request. She prepares her own healing oils and ointments from wild jungle plants. The massage is moderately deep and can address all areas “from head to toe”, except of course the intimate ones. We can even help with translation if you want to convey important information, such as sensitive areas or areas that should be most attended to.
Massage can be done on certain days only, please inquire about possible dates via whatsapp.
Duration and price:
30 minutes – 25 USD
60 minutes – 40 USD
90 minutes – 60 USD
It is also possible to purchase the healing ointment or oil used by Meli in our shop. Price 10 USD.
Indigenous steam bath “kushnichina”
For Kichwa people of the Amazon, this therapy is one of the basic tools to strengthen their body and heal from many kinds of diseases. It also connects people to the power of the Amazon forest and its plants.. For the preparation of this therapy, about 20 species of plants are collected in the forest and briefly boiled in a large pot, which releases their aroma and medicinal substances. At this pot, the patient sits down and is covered with blankets, which trap the vapours that are released, so that they can be absorbed into the body through the pores and respiratory system. This steaming is useful for improving blood circulation and healing on many levels. It is particularly useful in the case of colds, flu or respiratory problems. Duration 15-30 minutes. Price 40 USD.
Extra Ayahuasca ceremony
For those who want to work with Ayahuasca in a more intensive way, or want to get to know another indigenous shaman, additional ceremonies can be arranged under the guidance of indigenous shaman Don Luis Andy. This healer also provides each participant with a personal cleansing ritual that is different from others. Please read more about Don Luis here.
Price of the ceremony depends on how many people participate:
1 person 380 USD
2 people 250 USD per person
3 people 180 USD per person
4 people or more 140 USD per person
Treatment of an illness with the shaman
Included in the retreat is the energetic cleansing, energy balancing and energy transfers of healing spirits during an individual session. However, if you want to treat a specific illness in more depth, it is possible to hire the shaman to perform a special ceremony for you. Don Carlos is a traditional yachak (wise person or shaman of the kichwa tribe), who specializes in energetic healing of different illnesses. However, in order to be able to see and treat those specific illnesses without interruptions, he requires that his patients DO NOT drink Ayahuasca and that this session is done on a different night. Don Carlos drinks Ayahuasca, provides the patient with a cleansing ritual which is followed by a healing ritual where the patient lies on a bed and Don Carlos uses techniques such as sucking of harmful energies by mouth on a part of the body that is affected. Prices of this treatment may vary, according to the severity of the illness.
